Goblins, Ghouls and Spooky Bloody Mary Polish!

Halloween is fast approaching! It's the time of year for witches, zombies, high blood sugar and NAIL POLISH! Actually, isn't it time for nail polish all year?

I ordered some colors from the brand Bloody Mary. www.dearbloodymary.com It is a movie makeup line (and so much more)that has TONS of products. There are goth inspired items and they even supply camouflage face paint to our armed forces! They were easy to order from and sent some extras (pins, stickers and a cool mascara guard tool.) The only tough thing is the lack of decent swatches for their nail polishes. You really can't see the colors you are ordering and some aren't swatched at all. It's a little bit of a gamble! Now, onto the colors!!! There are some real gems in this collections! I hope they will release more colors in the deluxe line in the near future. Their polishes are $3.95 each.

Read on, if you dare! PS. I had to add a Elvgren pin-up witch. He is my favorite artist. :)
This is from their Signature polish collection. This is polish is called, "Black with red sparkle." It's a pretty black with tons of medium sized red glitter. There weren't any steel balls in this bottle so I couldn't shake up the glitter more. This is two coats with a top coat.
This is also from their signature collection. It is called, " Black with silver glitter." Exciting name! :) It's a black based polish with lots of silver glitter. I like how the glitter really stands out against the black. 2 coats with a top coat
This is also from the signature line. It's called, "Red with silver sparkles." The red stains the glitter and so it's more of a red with pink sparkles. It's a pretty red but the glitter is tamed by the consistency of the polish.
This is the last color from the signature line. It is called, White with silver sparkles." The glitter is gobbled up in this opaque white. I might try thinning it out a bit. This was 3 coats with a top coat.

This is the color poison from their new ultimate deluxe custom colors line. It is a really cool color. It has a steely, deep blue base with TONS of gold/green duochrome. It was easy to apply. This is three coats with no top coat.

This is the color decay from their new ultimate deluxe custom colors line. It's a deep, smokey purple base with a ton of the same golden duochrome as poison. Really pretty color!

*The site lists decay and poison as 'holographic.' They do not have prismatic glitter like what I consider holographic colors. These are what I call (not that I'm right) duochrome. Since, they change color in different light settings.
Lastly, is Wizard from the new ultimate deluxe custom colors line. It is a pretty shimmery red. It reminds me of a color OPI would do for Christmas.

Viva La Vespa Two Ways

Don't worry. I have two bottles of this color. The prize bottle is brand spanking new!

This is straight up Essie Viva La Vespa. It speaks for itself!
I didn't want to completely re-do my mani last night. Konads are the BEST for freshening up an existing color! I used Sally Hansen Chrome Nail Makeup in Royal Purple. I double stamped since konad doesn't make stamps for longer nails. :) I used konad plate M64.

10 Random Facts About Me

I was tagged! I've been trying to think of 10 random things about me. Let's see how far I get!

1. I love zombies. Zombie movies. Zombie Books. The idea of re-animation is funny and scary at the same time! Zombies are funny because they are slow (usually) and kind of dense. They are scary because they want to eat your brain! My AWESOME friend, Classic Rock Laila, has the cranberries 'zombie' as my personal ringtone on her cellphone. That is one cool friend! :)

2. I'm deathly allergic to SQUID! I had one bite of squid and ended up with anaphylactic shock! Not fun.

3. I'm scared of bridges. I sweat and get really tense. My mom is the BEST and when I was growing up she would drive way out of the way to avoid bridges. I love my mom. :) I am not scared of heights though.

4. I had a glomus tumor removed from my right index finger a few months back. These tumors usually show up BENEATH THE NAIL!!! They remove your nail when this occurs. Ugh! I'm lucky mine was on the side of my finger. I have a scar on my hand now. I think it makes me look tough!

5. I collect vintage icecrushers called 'iceomatics.' When my grandfather passed, I really wanted to keep his icecrusher. They remind me of his wonderful spirit. Soon after, I started picking up new ones!

I'll add more facts if I think of some. :)

I think every blog I know has been tagged. If you haven't been tagged.... TAG!!

Etude House Bling Bling Black DUOCHROME!!

What a cool black! It has loads of tiny duochrome flakes and a tiny amount of purple microglitter. You can see the duochromey magic in the bottle. I'm sorry I didn't have time today to try to take 1000 pictures to catch all the colors flash on my nails. Duochrome are so hard to capture!

Cyndi Lauper's Manicure on Bones!

I love her. She wore white nails with her pointer fingernails painted red! Too cute.

Etude House Bling Bling Blue With WARNING

WARNING!!! Do not wear this gorgeous mermaid blue near water! If you get wet, you WILL turn into a beautiful, screeching mermaid.
This is an Etude House nail polish from their bling bling line. It is called blue. Catchy name, right? I bought it from this ebay seller: princesschange. It is a gorgeous vibrant slightly teal blue with loads of lighter greenish microglitter. The application was wonderful. This is two coats with a topcoat.

Color Club Take A Walk On The Wild Side Swatches!

Today's swatches are brought to you by Lou Reed.. He always told us to take a walk on the wild side!!

Love 'em Leave 'em is a perfect nudie cutie! It's holo is pretty indoors and out.
Wild and Willing is a very glitzy coppery duochrome. It's a bit sheer. Layer it over black and WOWZEE! (see below)
On the wild side is a gunmetal grey chrome. It is a flattering shade of grey that I assume most people could pull off. But, you know what they say when someone ass-u-mes???
Rule Breaker is a painfully pretty tealy green shimmer fest! I love this color more than I thought I would! It glows...
Wild at Heart.... Are you freaking kidding me??? This color is amazing... It goes to ELEVEN! A deep vibrant purple holo. I love this color so much it is giving me a headache!!
With Abandon is a pretty gold shimmer glitter in an almost black base. Reminds me of China Glaze wagon trail.. But, a little better!

This is wild and willing on top of with abandon. The duochrome goes WILD! The shimmer really pops in all it's coppery goodness. I love duochromes too much!

Super Easy Ombre Manicure With Zoya Pinta and OPI Alpine Snow

  1. Pick your colors! This is the fun part. Any two colors will work. I used a dark color (pinta) and lightened it with white (alpine snow.) You could easily go the other way. Starting with a light color and adding black would be very pretty too! You could even start with a cool color and introduce a warmer tone. The possibilities are endless!
  2. Add a small amount of your base color to a dappen dish. These are very cheap and sold at beauty supply stores. They are usually used for acrylic liquid.
  3. Paint your first nail (on both hands) with the pure base color. Do all the coats you need on these nails.
  4. Add a few drops of your mix in color to the dappen dish. Stir it well with a toothpick or orange wood stick. Paint the next nails with as many coats as you need to finish them. DO NOT ACCIDENTALLY PUT THE BRUSH BACK IN THE BASE COLOR! I had to move the bottle so I wouldn't be tempted. :)
  5. Repeat step 4 for each nail until you are all done!
  6. Clean the brush by wiping it on a paper towel with a little acetone so you don't introduce the mixed color into your base color bottle.
  7. Sit back and admire your easy ombre manicure!

Why do I keep picturing THIS when I say ombre..... I want to say hombre. :) Any excuse to think of Paul Newman is a good one! RIP Paul!

Guppy Brand Polish Review

I bought these colors off of ebay. I shopped with ebay member jolieeeee. They were 2.50 each! It took about two weeks to get them to California. They applied very well (except for one!) Flinty (at polishorperish) ordered some different colors than I did. I'm sure she'll share her guppy's with us once she gets them! The name is fun. I don't think of nail polish when I think of guppy fish. The bottles are a good size at .6 fl. oz.

Up first is 77. I bought this one hoping it would be a cheaper dupe to NFu-Oh's 125. (did I mention I can't stand it when polishes only have a number???) Turns out it is not a dupe, or a twin, or a cousin. 125 and 77 maybe went to the same high school! 77 is a really pretty shimmery, mossy, ferny green. I really like it! It's not a dupe but it is still worth a look!
Here are 125 and 77 swatched together. 125 is a lot more yellow and has a more intense sparkle.

By far my favorite color I ordered!! 64 is a gorgeous dark grape purple shimmer/glitter. It reminds me a lot of the new suede opi lincoln park after dark (with a top coat of course!)
Yum! 24 is a perfect chocolate brown! It's warm and cozy and if it smelled like chocolate it would be perfection!! I dare you to resist licking your nails!
08 is a deep red jelly. I will try to apply it again before I give up on it. It was watery, streaky and kept wanting to show drag marks! It might have been user error since this was the last color I swatched.

Here is a link to the awesome flinty's guppy swatches! Click here to go to polish or perish.

OPI Red Red Rhine with Konad Plate S09

I love this red. It's a very wearable, classic red. I used konad plate s09. It is so cute! There is also a girl in a kimono and a maneki neko cat on this plate! I have the cat on my thumb and the kimono girl on my right hand. I posed with my favorite Asian treat! Jubes Nata De Coco! YUM!
