Groundhog's Day Is Awesome For Two Reasons Nail Art!

Tuesday is Groundhog's Day! If ol' Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow... we get 6 more weeks of winter.

My prediction? He'll run right out of his burrow and Spring will come early! :)

Okay.. the two reasons Groundhog's Day is awesome

1. Bill Murray. 1993. Enough said!

2. Groundhog's Day is MY BIRTHDAY! :)

The blue is two coats of dear bloody mary cosmetics nail polish. The grass is the no longer available carolyn of new york Greenwich Village. The white is Alpine Snow. The rest of the colors are blends. :)

Anyone else think this looks like a Caddy Shack scene? Another rodent filled Bill Murray movie! :)

My Spidey Sense Is Tingling.

This was a quick design. So, don't look too close! I used Bloody Mary's Scarlet Sacrifice red for the background. This is such a great red! The black is color club striper in black. Spider-man's eyes are OPI Alpine White. I think I should have done the spiderwebs white on my other fingers... Hmm... In the first pic, I'm trying to shoot webs. Notice the blue skies and palm trees? I love Southern California. Except for the traffic.... and the cost of living.... and the smog....

Dear Bloody Mary Part Two

After trying some of Dear Bloody Mary's nail polishes, I just had to go back and try the rest. I skipped only a few. They are $3.95 each so I didn't feel TOO bad making a mega haul. :) I ordered their hot sauce too! This order had the same great customer service and freebies. Hopefully, these swatches make it easier to order their colors if you want to. The site doesn't have clear pictures of each polish.

*on a side note* They sent me their mascara guard tool as a freebie. I love that little gizmo! It let's you put mascara on your bottom lashes without: 1. making a mess 2. looking like a clown.

This is their baby blue creme color. I am not a fan of pastels. This is the BEST baby blue! It isn't too pale and is opaque in two coats.

This is from the Goth nail polish line. This color is called Bordeaux Bliss. I really love the depth of this burgundy. It's not so vampy that it looks black and it's not so red that it looks like a holiday color. I love how the edges look darker. It is one of those 'lit from within' shades.

This is also from the Goth nail polish line. It is called Evening Sacrifice. This is a cool purpley vampy slightly frosty color. It is definitely purple and is not so vampy that it looks black. It reminds me of grape soda.
This color is also from the Goth line. The name is Graveyard Moss. This color was a surprise hit. In the bottle it didn't look this pretty. I really liked how it looked! I expected it to be sheer and usually sheer pale green is not flattering. This was the surprise of the bunch. I expected to hate it and ended up loving it.
This is the Goth line's color Midnight Melancholy. It is a bright frosty blue. I expected it to be a lot darker. I'm glad it was bright. It's a perfect summer pedi color.
This is the Goth line's color called Sepulchral Earth. It's a super pretty shimmery warm reddish brown. Perfect for fall! It reminds me of OPI Espresso Your Style but a bit lighter.
Moonlit Madness is a pretty standard sheer white.
HECK YEAH!! I went through a long, long phase where I would buy one bottle of red polish and use it until it was gone. I have a strong attraction to bright red cremes. I try to force myself to not wear them too often. This is the color Scarlet Sacrifice. Perfect red creme. Easy to apply, very retro and just a tiny touch trashy! :) Perfect!

Goblins, Ghouls and Spooky Bloody Mary Polish!

Halloween is fast approaching! It's the time of year for witches, zombies, high blood sugar and NAIL POLISH! Actually, isn't it time for nail polish all year?

I ordered some colors from the brand Bloody Mary. www.dearbloodymary.com It is a movie makeup line (and so much more)that has TONS of products. There are goth inspired items and they even supply camouflage face paint to our armed forces! They were easy to order from and sent some extras (pins, stickers and a cool mascara guard tool.) The only tough thing is the lack of decent swatches for their nail polishes. You really can't see the colors you are ordering and some aren't swatched at all. It's a little bit of a gamble! Now, onto the colors!!! There are some real gems in this collections! I hope they will release more colors in the deluxe line in the near future. Their polishes are $3.95 each.

Read on, if you dare! PS. I had to add a Elvgren pin-up witch. He is my favorite artist. :)
This is from their Signature polish collection. This is polish is called, "Black with red sparkle." It's a pretty black with tons of medium sized red glitter. There weren't any steel balls in this bottle so I couldn't shake up the glitter more. This is two coats with a top coat.
This is also from their signature collection. It is called, " Black with silver glitter." Exciting name! :) It's a black based polish with lots of silver glitter. I like how the glitter really stands out against the black. 2 coats with a top coat
This is also from the signature line. It's called, "Red with silver sparkles." The red stains the glitter and so it's more of a red with pink sparkles. It's a pretty red but the glitter is tamed by the consistency of the polish.
This is the last color from the signature line. It is called, White with silver sparkles." The glitter is gobbled up in this opaque white. I might try thinning it out a bit. This was 3 coats with a top coat.

This is the color poison from their new ultimate deluxe custom colors line. It is a really cool color. It has a steely, deep blue base with TONS of gold/green duochrome. It was easy to apply. This is three coats with no top coat.

This is the color decay from their new ultimate deluxe custom colors line. It's a deep, smokey purple base with a ton of the same golden duochrome as poison. Really pretty color!

*The site lists decay and poison as 'holographic.' They do not have prismatic glitter like what I consider holographic colors. These are what I call (not that I'm right) duochrome. Since, they change color in different light settings.
Lastly, is Wizard from the new ultimate deluxe custom colors line. It is a pretty shimmery red. It reminds me of a color OPI would do for Christmas.
