Fall Is In The Air! NOT!

That is it! I'm fed up with this weather! Here in Southern California it is still in the upper 90's!! I want to start baking, wearing sweaters and enjoying hot cocoa!! Instead, I still have to turn on my a/c! This manicure is as fall-y as I can get! I'm going to wear a sweater and fake like the weather is autumnal. Heat stroke might be in my near future. :)

This is OPI Did Someone Say Party with Sally Hansen Copper Chrome stamped on top (plate m60.)

What is the weather like where you are? Wanna trade? No snow please. :D

Halloween Art on Guest Fingers!

Notice anything different about this picture? It's not my hand! I was so excited when a friend asked me to do her nails for Halloween. She is a teacher so, her nails had to be 'friendly' spooky. I had the best time chatting and painting fun nail art. She gave me a nice gift as a thank you. :) I'm so lucky to have such great friends (and amazing e-friends!) Thank you so much Deez Nailz! Your AWESOME Halloween nail art round up post gave me the inspiration for this manicure. The vampire she did was inspired by the very talented Mistress Zombie. She has so many super cute (and simple to do) designs. All the white has a layer of OPI Ghostess with the Mostess. So, it's a glow in the dark manicure! The frankenstein is OPI Damone Roberts 1968 and the pumpkin is Orly Crush On You.

Creepy Fish Picture With A Story and Lazy Nails

Ahh... This picture says it all! Clicker that will guide me through many episodes of Hoarders? CHECK. Tacky, comfy fleece skull jammies? CHECK! Awesome OPI nail color Who Are You Wearing? DOUBLE CHECK!! I love this color so much. It is super pigmented. This is two thin coats. It is deep black with fine purple to red duochrome shimmer. It's going to be a good day.

I was digging through some old pictures this morning. I'm trying to find pics of my old house to share with Morgan (see the post below.) I came across this creepy picture. I had a little fish tank 3-4 years ago. I had a few guppies and some neon tetras. The guppies had babies (as they so often do.) During this time, I was having some trouble making a new kid. I had recently had a very devastating miscarriage. My guppies were showing off their impressive fertility skills. The jerky fish even ate some of their spawn to prove the point. One of the baby guppies looked like it had writing on it's side. I never got a great picture of it. But, in person while the fish was swimming.... I swear this creepy fish has BABY on it's side!! Or BIBI? Looked more like BABY at the time.

This story has a happy ending. My crazy seeing-babies -everywhere (even on fish) phase was over when my newest maniac arrived. The picture below is of my two sons. My little one was less than a week old. Whoever says babies don't smile can bite me! These little dudes were laughing it up from day one.

The Importance of Good Dental Hygiene Nail Art

I had my teeth cleaned on Monday. Oh man! The hygienist I see is VERY good and VERY thorough. :) When I booked the appointment they asked me to make sure my nails were decorated. I thought this was fun. Big bummer though. I have a cavity! It's a spot that has been being watched. I guess it finally reached 'time to fill it' status. So, I'll be doing dentist nails again in a week for that appointment. The base color is OPI dating a royal. It isn't so sheer in real life. I'm still getting used to my camera. I'm thinking it's jelly finish caused this weird look in the picture? I've had this manicure since Sunday. So, sorry about the tip wear. happy brushing! :)

Godzilla Nail Art RUN!!

This manicure is making me smile. Even though it depicts a horrifying scene. A HUGE fire- breathing lizard chasing innocent civilians shouldn't make us smile! :) The base color is OPI Ogre the top blue. The Godzilla is BB Couture Poison Ivy (best green ever!) the fire is Orly poison apple and an old Sally Hansen Live Wire. Thank you Nouvelle Gamine for the inspiration (shown below!) If you haven't already, please check out her blog. :) CLICK HERE

It's Fun Killing Spiders! My Sclerotherapy Adventure

So, Monday I had a session of sclerotherapy. I had no idea what to expect! It was super easy. I only felt a few of the many injections. The veins instantly disapeared when she injected the sclerosing solution. It was so much fun to watch. I, of course, had to add nail art for the occasion. Above is a spider before and after the treatment. ;) This is the same OPI Red Hot Gift from Monday. So, that explains the tipwear! This is one of my (many) bruises. I'll take short term bruises over permanent spider veins any day. Not that the veins were terrible. I've had them forever and they didn't bug me too much. It's just nicer to not have them! :)
Here are some of the injection marks shortly after the procedure. The veins filled back up a tiny bit. This area is now a faint bruise. I'll still need to go back in a few weeks and have the teeny tiny ones zapped with a laser.

Not a great picture. This is one of the clusters of veins. This isn't the biggest one. I couldn't get a good picture of that one since it is on the back of my thigh! It is so hard to photograph veins!

OPI Red Hot Gift ~ Gotta Love A Classic Red!

Felt like wearing a classic red today. My toes even match! I bought this oil today. It is Hei Poa Huile De Monoi Tahiti in the au roucou version. Yum! It smells so good! It has a bit of anatto (a natural dye) and gave my skin a very slight golden hue. The main ingredient is coconut oil. I put a little bit in my dry, fine hair. It seemed to drink it up. Has anyone tried the other scents by this brand? Or a different Monoi Oil? Or just coconut oil?

Sidenote: I am having my sclerotherapy done tomorrow. I have had spider veins on my legs since my teens. During pregnancy they really got worse. I hope this treatment does the trick! I'd love to have legs that don't looked bruised all the time. Has anyone had their spider veins treated? Is anyone interested in me sharing pics?

"No Sir, I don't like it" Ren & Stimpy Nail Art

It is shameful that I have not yet honored Mr. Stimpy on my blog. Ren and Stimpy was is one of the best Nicktoons ever. Stimpy is the best. Ren was on my pinky... He got smudged when I was watching The Muddy Mudskipper Show.
Someone else wanted in on the art...
Can you guess who it is?
Powdered toast man!!!

(Apologies to anyone without the pleasure of seeing this silly cartoon. :) It's worth a google!)

Native Art For My Favorite Blackfoot

When EvilAngel picked waterfalls or hummingbirds for the viewer's choice nail art, I knew I had to do hummingbirds. I love hummingbirds and I love EvilAngel. Not just for her awesome blog and crazy cool nails. She has been a friend and helped me through a scary time (when my son was sick.) So, I decided to put a Blackfoot spin on the hummingbird theme. The feathers are supposed to look like the ones I saw on the Blackfoot Flag. The hummingbird is inspired by the art of Arlene. When I applied the top coat.. Things got smudgey. :( I know better than to trust Poshe. This manicure was done just for you. Thanks for being you!

The white is good ol' OPI Alpine White. The black is art deco striper and the red is bloody mary scarlet sacrifice.

True Blood Sucker for Sookie Nail Art

Thank you Grace! You asked for a True Blood manicure and here is my attempt at one! I love the Sookie Stackhouse series. I love the Aurora Teagarden Series. I love the Lily Bard series. I love Charlaine Harris. Her books are so much fun to read. In fact, I've already had to have my nook e-reader replaced.. I wore the forward button out! I guess I read a lot.

The red is OPI Double Decker Red (thanks A.L!) The black is Maybelline Colorama Black Magic. The silver is Essie Opera. I thought it was funny to make this vamp a bit sparkly. Trust me. The Sookie Stackhouse vampires don't sparkle!

This is the art from the True Blood HBO series. It is also the cover art on some of the Sookie Stackhouse books. The new season of True Blood starts at 9:00 June 13 on HBO.

Sorry about the double pictures. Blogger keeps shutting down when I try to delete the extras! I'll fix it if I can get it to stop closing on me tomorrow!

OPI Funky Dunkey and Lippman Happy Birthday

This is the new OPI Funky Dunkey from the Shrek collection. It is a gorgeous purple. I had this on since Monday morning! I was just barely starting to get tip wear. I didn't notice how dry my cuticles were until I uploaded these pics. Yikes! So, I decided to throw Lippman Happy Birthday on top. HOLY MOLY! Glitter overload! What a fun combo. I feel very festive. (thanks mama marie!) :)

I won't keep this on for long though. I have two nail art designs coming up! One for PHD's challenge and another one that is a surprise.

Vintage Cowboy Nail Art For PHD's Challenge

Here is my entry for polish hoarder disorder's challenge. We had to use (at least two) of the colors red, green, teal and white. Optional silver and glitter. The theme was vintage! My kind of theme!! The other entries are awesome! It is so cool to see how different everyone's designs are!

For my entry, I went with the vintage cowboy look. I just love the vintage western style. There was a ton of inspirational material in this genre! I found this vintage fabric and it fit the bill for the challenge! Click the picture to see where I found it.
The ring finger is a rooster and the middle finger is a cowboy on a bucking bronco. The base of the rooster's tail has two pieces of glitter.

Here are the colors I used to meet the requirements:
Red: China Glaze China Rouge
Green: Unnamed Goldie
Teal: Rescue Beauty Lounge Teal
White: OPI Alpine White
Silver: (kind of a loose interpretation) China Glaze Recycle

Rose Tattoo With A Bad Cattitude

I bought the new OPI Shrek Forever After mini bottle set. GEEZ When OPI says mini they mean MINI! The brush is so small. You need tweezers to hold it! What's With the Cattitude is such a great blue. I might even need it in the full size. This is three coats with Seche Vite on top. I really wanted a rose on my fingers. I decided to find inspiration in the easiest spot possible. My own leg! :) This rose tattoo manicure is a (poor) copy of one of my own tattoos.
I apologize for showing some leg. Warning. I would not click on this pic and make it huge if I were you!

Matchy Matchy Nail Art

So, finally feeling a bit settled in the new house. I have had zero nail art inspiration! I'm going to a birthday bash today. I couldn't go with boring nails! I decided to be all "matchy matchy" with a manicure that matches the fabric in my skirt! :) The coral is OPI Don't Koi With Me the green is OPI Damone Roberts 1968 the white is an old maybelline and the black is art club striper black. I better finish getting ready for my party! I hope everyone has a great weekend. (ignore the greasy cuticles they were sooo dry!!)

Suzi Says Feng Shui and House Pic

OHHH!! This blue!! It is perfect. This is Suzi Says Feng Shui from the new OPI Hong Kong Collection. This is two coats with seche vite on top. It's a perfect dusty blue. It applied really well. I shortened my nails. I was begging for a bad break having them that long while packing, cleaning and doing home projects. :)
Here is a poopy cell phone pic of the floors and baseboards. I still haven't seen them in person!! I can't wait to get started on the painting. It's all coming together. They are a laminate flooring material. The bathrooms are tile. I hope to get over there tonight. I'll definitely take some pics to share with my blogger friends!

Felix The Cat! The Wonderful, Wonderful Cat!

It's about darn time I did a Felix The Cat manicure! :) Felix is really helping me by counting down to moving day. The new house is completely gutted!! Now... putting it back together without breaking a nail... Thank goodness for my awesome family's help. When did my nails get long again? I guess that is a bonus of not painting your nails often. It seems like they grow so much between manicures! I can't wait to be settled and be able to paint my nails more often again!

White: OPI Alpine White
Red: mybloodymary.com scarlet sacrifice
Black: Maybelline colorama black magic (I think that's it's name?)

OPI Mad As A Hatter and Hilarious Nail Art FAIL

Witness the nail art fail. Try not to scream in horror!
The OPI glitter Mad As A Hatter is amazing. These are flash pics at night so the glitter isn't sparkling like it should. I really wanted to paint Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter.... It is so awful I can't stop laughing!! I just didn't have enough room to fit in this character. I even added a gel nail extension! Still, not enough room. The shading was really hard too. By the time I got to his mouth, I just said, "forget it!" I hope this is as funny to my readers as it is to me!
Oh great... my first post of 2010 is a fail! But, it's a funny fail... so I'm thinking it's a good sign! I guess life is all about goofing up and being able to learn and laugh about it. I've learned to not try to paint really difficult things on my teeny nails! :)

OFF WITH HER HEAD!! Absolutely Alice OPI & Nail Art

(edited to add a full sun pic!) This is my right hand. I think it is it's first appearance on my blog!

Thank goodness for OPI!! Absolutely Alice is an amazing blue with sparse gold glitter. These pics aren't in sunlight and do not do it any justice. I just had to do something to give honor to the character I am most excited to see in Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland. Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen!! Hmmmm.... I wonder what nail art I'll be doing when I swatch Mad As A Hatter......
